We stayed in Kona for 2 weeks and probably ended up at Lava Java 10 times or more. Great food for any time of the day. Fresh pastries, great coffee, ice cream, lunch/dinner and a great place to watch the sunset.

I stumbled upon this place too and just chanced the fish tacos (I am not a taco person). They are incredible!!! I was in Kailua-Kona for a week and ahd fish tacos every day for either lunch or dinner - they ar really good. We were staying at the Kona Resort so this is really close - easy walking distance. Highly recommend!!! Sit outside, watch the people and the ocean is right across the street.

This place is perfect for a little "chill out" and "me time" or after dinner dessert. Lava Java has really friendly staff on this waterfront area of Kona. Perfect for people-watching while enjoy Kona coffee and incredible ice cream like Kona Delight (coffee) or Kona Joy (Vanilla, Caramel & Macademia Nut).
This is where locals hang with the intruders like myself. Free Wi-Fi inside and outdoors. There's an unobstructed view of the sunset-side of The Big Island. If you are there on a cruise ship day around 6pm, you can cheer with everyone else when the ship blows its horn as it sets sail.
The staff keeps this place spotless clean too! Definitely a cool place to hang, anytime.

Kona Coffee is the BEST
great place to come enjoy a cup of Kona coffee, a cinnamon bun as big as your head and check your email on the internet (available here for a small fee).
